Mrs. Adelaide Rebecca (Smith) Tucker, age 85, formerly of Myersville, passed away on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Homewood at Crumland Farms. She was the wife of Nelson L. Tucker who she married on December 31, 1945 and passed away on May 30th, 1999. Born on June 1, 1925 she was the daughter of the late Guy Thomas and Anna Ruth (Winpigler) Smith.
Mrs. Tucker was a graduate of Frederick High School. Throughout most of her life, she attended Greenbrer Baptist Church in Boonsboro. She worked at a number of different jobs. They included serving at the Frances Scott Key Hotel, being a seamstress at Frederick Hosiery and a laborer at American Optical. Most of all, she was a great homemaker and a great cook.
Mrs. Tucker is survived by one daughter, Mary Ann Putman, and husband Austin, Jr., of Smithsburg, three grandchildren, Brian Nelson Putman of Alexandra, VA, Jason Austin Putman and his wife Nichole of Martinsburg, WV, and Aaron Isaac Putman and wife Cheryl of Mercersburg, PA, and one great-grandson, Josh. She is additionally survived by two brothers, Donald Smith of Woodsboro, and Arbor Smith of Hagerstown and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her siblings, Washington Smith, Alban Smith, Stoner Smith, Nicholas Smith, Julia Hartman, Mary Aramann, Ruth Luzier, Anna DeBerry, and Maude Ellis.
Friends will be received at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick on Monday, December 20, 2010 from 7 to 9 PM where services will be held in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 2 PM. The officiating clergy will be Rev. David Coblentz. The interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.
