Mary Margaret Wachter

Mrs. Mary Margaret Wachter, 77, of Thurmont, died Sunday, January 23, 2011 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Paul William Wachter. They were married for 59 years.

Born April 25, 1933 in McKaig, she was the daughter of the late E. Milo Hooper, Sr., and Ruth Main Hooper.

Mrs. Wachter was an active farmer's wife and homemaker. She enjoyed selling farm fresh eggs to the community. She loved cooking, canning, gardening and working on word search puzzles.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughters, Diane Wachter, Susan Wachter and fiance', Jim Kaas, and Nancy Palmer; granddaughters, Ashley and Brandi Palmer; a sister, Anna Mae Carmack; a brother, Robert Lee Hooper and his wife, Paulette; and sisters-in-law, Edna Hooper and Phyllis Hooper.

She also is survived by many loving relatives and friends.

She was predeceased by her brothers and sister, E. Milo Hooper, Howard Hooper, Grayson Hooper, Betty Cramer and John Hooper; her son-in-law, Michael Palmer; and sister-in-law, Betty Virginia Wachter Martin.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday, January 27 from the funeral home chapel. Officiating will be Pastor James A. Coblentz of Pioneer Baptist Church, Thurmont.

Interment will follow in Faith United Church of Christ Cemetery, Frederick.
