Mrs. Frances Lucille Walter, 82, of Columbia and also a longtime resident of Catonsville, died on Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at the Gilchrist Hospice Care, in Towson. She was the loving wife of the late Charles Carroll Walter, who died July 17, 1997. Born in Adamstown on March 17, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Lucille Virts Stup. Mrs. Walter at one time had owned and operated a ceramic business and was a homemaker for many years. She was a member of the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, Catonsville. She was also an avid bowler. Surviving are her three children, Debra L. Sundberg and husband Joseph, of Ellicott City, Brenda L. Stewart and husband Russell, of Columbia and Donald A. Walter and wife Neela, of Hanover, MD, one brother, Howard Stup, Jr., of Adamstown, four sisters, Lorraine Biser, of Brunswick, Annabelle Easton, of Frederick, Helen Powell, of Walkersville and Phyllis Martin, of Taneytown, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son Charles C. Walter, Jr. The family will receive friends from 2 to 5 p.m., on Friday, May 27, 2011, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m., on Saturday, May 28, 2011, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. David K. Asendorf, pastor of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Gilchrist Hospice Center, 555 W. Towsontown Blvd., Towson, MD 21284. Online condolences may be shared at www.keeneybasford.com.
