Edna Marie Wegman

Mrs. Edna Marie Wegman, 89, of Apex, N.C., died Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Rex Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center in Apex. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Joseph Wegman who died in 1963.

Born August 5, 1921 in Midland, MD, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elmira Ravenscroft Robertson.

She was a graduate of Central High School in Lonoconing, MD. She worked for many years as a Claims Representative at the Social Security Administration in Silver Spring. Upon her retirement, she moved to the Frederick area.

She was a former member of Brook Hill United Methodist Church where she participated in the choir, the United Methodist Women's Group, and the Wise Owls. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

Mrs. Wegman relocated to the North Carolina area in 2002.

She is survived by her children, James P. Wegman; Lawrence E. Wegman and wife, Shelly; and Nancy Wegman, all of Garner, NC; and her brother, Allen Robertson and wife, Mary Lou, of Frederick.

She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Gorman Robertson in 1991, and her sister, Helen Harvey in 2004.

Funeral services for Mrs. Wegman will begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday, February 19 from the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until the time of services. Officiating will be the Rev. Timothy S. May, Sr.

Private interment will be held Monday at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Wegman's name to the American Heart Association, 415 N. Charles Street, Baltimore, MD 21201.
