Robert Wetzel Obituary
Robert "Bob" "Sam" Mitchell Wetzel, 69, of Frederick passed away peacefully to be in heaven Thursday, February 17, 2011 at his home with his wife and daughter by his side. He was the husband of Shirley Wetzel for 42 years.
He was born on August 15, 1941 in Frederick and he was the son of the late Arthur V. and Eva May Wetzel.
Robert graduated from Frederick High School in 1959. He retired from Bowers Lumber Company where he worked for 40 years. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, and the Washington Redskins. On his summer vacations, he enjoyed trips to Chincoteague with his wife and family. Bob enjoyed working on word search puzzles, woodworking and country music. He loved John Wayne and watching Western 's and WW II movies. He enjoyed going to air shows and gun shows with his son-in-law Mike Fogle and Stephanie. Bob enjoyed talks with friends in his neighborhood. Also, he loved trips to play the slots in Charles Town. A quote from our grandson Danny "Bud", "Pap can fix it and always did." Bob had a great sense of humor even through bad times.
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by daughter, Stephanie L. Fogle and husband Michael "Mike" of Walkersville, grandson, Danny "Bud" Guariglia of Frederick, great-grandchildren, Tabitha, Jordan, Kylee and Danny Jr., many nieces and nephews, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Frank Squibb, Duke Bryant, James "Tinker" Jenkins, Jeff Thorpe and wife Melody, Evan "Ebby" Dorsey and wife Kim, Stanley Barklow and wife Debbie, Jennifer D. "Jenna" Doody and Ellie Jenkins, mother-in-law, Ruby J. Barklow, special friends, Mick and Belinda Lewis, Tommy and Janet Brooks, Robert "Bob" Smith, Dr. Eric G. Bush, Cathy Hinkston, RN and special caregivers of Hospice.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick., with the family receiving friends one hour prior to services. Rev. Thomas W. Claggett III will officiate. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
