Dorothy Louise Wiles

Miss Dorothy Louise Wiles, 90, a lifetime resident of Frederick, and a resident of Taney Village, died on Saturday, September 17, 2011, at Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Frederick on October 2, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Ira Millard and Elsie Regina Clingan Wiles. Miss Wiles had worked as a seamstress for 30 years at Muse Tailoring and Sagners. Then for 12 years she had worked at Airpax in Frederick. She graduated from Elm Street School in 1938 , with ceremonies at the Tivoli Theater. She was a long time member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, a leader of the "Work in Study" Group, and was also active with the Taney Village Resident's Association and had served as the complex chaplain. Surviving her is a sister-in-law, Rosella Wiles, of Frederick, and nieces and nephews; Sandy Jacobs and husband Robert, Mary C. Summers, David Wiles and wife Mary Ann and Sandy Mastrino, all of Frederick and Michael Wiles and wife Bridget, of Charles Town, West Virginia and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Mastrino and a brother, Ulysses Wiles. The family would like to extend a special thank you for the professional care and love given by the staff and care givers of Citizens and Hospice. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Wednesday, September 21, 2011, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, September 22, 2011, from the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 31 East Church Street. The Rev. Dr. Robert Driver-Bishop and The Rev. Dr. W. Phillip Fogarty, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
