Leona Catherine Wiles Obituary

Mrs. Leona Catherine Wiles, 93, of Frederick, died Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Glade Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Charles Coleman Wiles.

She was born on April 7, 1917 in Frederick, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Pearl Kintz Linton.

Mrs. Wiles was a devoted member of the Edgewood Church of God, Rocky Springs. She was a homemaker and farmed for many years in Frederick County. She loved her family and enjoyed the many hours spent with flowers and gardening, bowling and bingo with her many friends and traveling on bus trips.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty E. Laumann and husband Ervine of Gettysburg, PA, sons, Paul E. Wiles Sr. and wife Sharon of Fairfield, PA and Donald L. Wiles Sr. and wife Margaret Ann of Thurmont, daughter-in-law, Catherine Wiles, ten grandchildren, Deborah Goetz, Cynthia Morris, Douglas Laumann, Brian Laumann, Donald Wiles Jr., Joyce Humpheries, Melissa Worth, Paul Wiles Jr., Rodney Wiles and Wayne Wiles, eleven great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, numerous step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by son Charles W. Wiles, sisters, Ava Stull, Viola Davis, Mildred Baugher and Dorothy Specht, brother, Harry C. Linton and grandson-in-law, Dennis Goetz (husband of Deborah).

The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm on Monday, March 21, 2011 at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. The funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 in the Etchison Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Duane Beck will officiate. Interment will follow at Clustard Spires Cemetery, Frederick.
