M Ann Wilhite

M. Ann Wilhite, nee Biel, (85) of Frederick, Maryland passed away at her home on Thursday, November 18, 2010. Mrs. Wilhite died of natural causes following a series of strokes. She is survived by her loving sons James Wilhite, Colonel Donald and Lora Wilhite, daughter Linda Richelson, five grand children: Sandra, Alison, Emily, Sarah and James and three great-grand children.

Mrs. Wilhite was born and raised in Chicago Heights, Illinois. She accepted a government assignment post-WW II in Germany, where she met US Air Force 1Lt Ralph H. Wilhite. In 1948 they were married in a fairy tale wedding held in Kronberg Castle. They returned to the states to raise their children and lived in many parts of the country while Ralph served on active duty. Following the death of her husband in 1967, Ann attended Southern Illinois University where she earned an undergraduate and a master's degree in Education. She worked as an Education Counselor for the military in a number of assignments including an overseas assignment to Bamberg Germany. Ann loved to travel and toured much of the US and Europe, in addition she was a gourmet cook, avid reader, and loved to sew. She was strong willed and fiercely independent with a strong love and generosity for her family and friends. She touched many lives through her life's journey and the friendships she made lasted a lifetime.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 am December 8, 2010 at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Interment will be private in Arlington National Cemetery.
