Mr. Harry Howard Wolfe III, 82 of Adamstown, Maryland passed away on Wednesday, September 21st at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Mary Etta McLaughlin Wolfe.
Born July 23, 1929 in Sandy Springs, MD he was the son of Harry Howard Jr and Mary Rose Clagett Wolfe.
Harry attended Bethesda Chevy Chase High School.
He served in the US Army from 1946 to 1949 and was stationed in the Phillipines as a member of the Correspondence and Photography Corp.
In 1950, Harry met and married the love of his life, Mary Etta McLaughlin. This union blessed them with 6 children. He was a devoted family man and in the 1960s became a scout master. His family was named Scouting Family of the Year, an award of which he was very proud.
He was an entrepreneur, owning a number of successful businesses over his long career. He was currently the owner of C & H Supply Co., Sheds and Gazebos in Jefferson, Md.
Harrys enthusiasm for life was infectious, resulting in many interests and hobbies. He and Mary traveled the world together. He was a life long student of American History, with a passion for books.
A love of music led Harry to enjoy playing acoustic guitar. He had a beautiful singing voice and loved playing and singing with his family and friends.
Harry was a devoted fan of the Washington Redskins cheering them on through the teams highs and lows.
Of the many achievements in Harrys life, perhaps the greatest, was to teach his children to have a passion for life, an open mind and a thirst for knowledge.
Harry is survived by his wife, Mary and daughters Sherry Johnson and husband Sam Yu of Frederick, Teresa Dayhoff and husband Gene of Keedysville. Sons, Tad Wolfe and wife Lori of Greencastle, Pa., Chris Wolfe and wife Julianna of Myersville and Jay Wolfe and wife Susan of Woodsboro. He is also survived by Sister Rosemary Stewart and husband Charlie of Middletown. Brothers, Rick Wolfe and wife Rosemary of Frederick, David Wolfe and wife Linda of Reston, Va., Walter Wolfe and wife Thea of Clarksburg, 16 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and his devoted Jack Russell Terrier Clyde.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Debra Wolfe Bradley.
Harry was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church of Buckeystown. Memorial Contributions may be made in his memory to St. Josephs Catholic Church, Capital Campaign Contribution, P. O. Box 33 Buckeystown, Md. 21717.
The family will be receiving visitors at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home Located at 106 East Church St. Frederick, MD 21701, on Sunday September 25, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
Funeral Services will be conducted at St. Johns The Evangelist Catholic Church on Monday, September 26th at 10:00 AM. 112 East 2nd St. Frederick, MD 21701
