Ms. Kathleen Shannon "Katie" Murphy, 24, of Frederick, and formerly Germantown, MD, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 16, 2011 at her home. Born October 7, 1987 in Gaithersburg, MD, she was the daughter of Kevin P. Murphy and Ellen M. (Dundin) Murphy. In addition to her parents, Katie is survived by one brother, Terry Murphy; one sister Meghan Murphy; one nephew JP Murphy; and boyfriend of many years Nicholas Branham. The family will receive friends from 7-9PM on Friday, January 20, 2012, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St. Frederick, Maryland. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10AM on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 118 East Second Street, Frederick, Maryland 21701. Interment will private. Arrangements by Keeney & Basford Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be sent to the Heartly House, PO Box 857, Frederick, Maryland 21705.
