Mr. David Berry Stagg, 70, of Frederick, loving husband, father and grandfather, died Monday, January 30, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Margaret E. (Peggy) Stagg. They were married nearly 47 years. Born June 16, 1941 in New Haven, Conn., he was the son of Harold George "Lonnie" and June Evelyn Ward Stagg. He attended Bradley Elementary, North Bethesda Junior High, Woodward Prep and Walter Johnson High School. In his early work career, Mr. Stagg was a Montgomery County police officer for four and a half years. He later worked as a Warehouse Manager for Poch Hardware, Duron Paints and Potomac Wallcovering. He retired as an Independent Courier with Central Delivery, Inc. He was a member of the Montgomery County Police Alumni Association, and a member of the Francis Scott Key American Legion, Post #11. He was an excellent gardener, and he enjoyed fishing on the bay. He loved cooking and was an excellent grill master at home. Mr. Stagg enjoyed having large family breakfasts of sausage gravy and biscuits or fried dough. He also enjoyed baking his world famous chocolate chip cookies. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife Peggy, he is survived by two sons, Robert Philip Stagg and wife, Charity Ann, of Hagerstown; and William David Stagg and wife, Amy, of Dansville, Mich.; a daughter, Sharon Alice Godlove and husband, Jay K. of Middletown; a brother, Philip N. Stagg and wife, Linda, of Deltona, Fla.; and a sister-in-law, Kathie Chambers and fiance', John Johnson of Ashburn, Va. He also is survived by seven grandchildren, Tosha Stagg, Jenna Stagg, Tiara Stagg, Skylar Stagg, Jake Godlove, Cory Godlove and Brooks Godlove; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Caiden; two nephews, Michael Stagg, and William Peagler; and five nieces, Judy Dunning, Wanda Peagler and husband, Billy, Stephanie Peagler, Laura Chambers, and Samantha Chambers and husband, Nick Thom. He was predeceased by a nephew, Steven W. Stagg; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and JoAnne Boone. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2012 at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 3 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 705 W. Patrick Street, Frederick, Md. 21701. Officiating will be the Rev. Glen Dameron, senior pastor; and Rev. Lynn Wilson, associate pastor. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 703 W.
