Mrs. Charlotte Koogle Zimmerman Kessinger, 90, of Frederick, died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, January 30, 2012, at Tranquillity of Fredericktowne, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Gordonsville, Virginia on November 19, 1921, and she was a daughter of the late Jeptha McCulloh and Hazel Rebecca Koogle Zimmerman. Mrs. Kessinger had worked as a secretary at Fort Detrick and for the Department of Energy. Surviving her are five daughters, Ann Dahms and husband Joseph, Candy Kelly and husband Michael, Yvonne Lebherz and husband David, Catherine Elizabeth "Katie" Downs and husband Timothy, and Elaine McCulloh Kessinger all of Frederick, one sister, Anne Schilling and husband Jack, of Joppatowne, grandchildren, Sheri Tennett and husband Daniel, of Lake Bluff, Ill., Michael G. Kelly, Jr., of Frederick, Jasmine Naylor and husband Cory, of Miami, FL, Sam Lebherz and wife Tamara, of Philadelphia, PA, Stacey Lebherz, of Frederick, Elizabeth Downs and Sara Downs, both of Bethesda, and a step granddaughter, Melanie Shelton, of Frederick, great grandchildren, Daniel, Alana, Benjamin, Moses and Rory, and several nieces and nephews. She will also be remembered by special friends, Tom Hafle and Loberta Staley. She was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Dronenburg. Her family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Tranquillity of Fredericktowne for their compassion and care for the last five years of their mother's life.
