Elinor M. Crosby, age 84, of Frederick, left this world to be with her Lord on Monday, February 6, 2012 surrounded by family and friends. She was the wife of the late John Patrick Crosby, Jr. who passed away on April 11, 2011. Born on November 20, 1927 in Painesville, Ohio, Elinor was the daughter of the late Harold and Mary (Whipple) McGee. Mrs. Crosby worked for 30 years and 3 days at the National Mediation Board in Washington DC as a secretary for the Federal Government. Following her retirement, she moved with her husband to Vero Beach FL, where she was active at St. Helen's Roman Catholic Church for 18 years as a religious education teacher. In addition to raising six children, she loved sewing, reading, working crossword puzzles and creating jigsaw puzzle artwork. During her retirement years, she and her husband enjoyed traveling to numerous destinations culminating in a life-long dream trip to Ireland. Mrs. Crosby is survived by three sons, Richard L. Alexander and wife Rosemary, Michael J. Crosby and wife Frankie, Timothy H. Crosby and wife Susan, two daughters, Kathleen C. Fisher and husband Scat, Patricia A. Hughes and husband Daniel, 12 grandchildren, Ricky, Melissa, Christina, Debra, Shawn, Ryan Connor, Meghan, Taylor, Keegan, Ian, and Skyler; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is additionally survived byher sister Martha Todd. She was preceded in death by her son Kevin P. Crosby, and three sisters, Jean, Marion and Ruthie. A special thanks to the staff of Tranquillity at Fredericktowne Assisted Living and Hospice of Frederick County for their special care and support. Friends will be received on Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Keeney &Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. A Christian memorial service is planned for Friday, February 10, 2012 at 11:00 am at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren, 11301 Meeting House Road, Myersville, MD 21773.
