Richard Eugene "Foot" Stine, Jr. On February 7, 2012, Richard E. "Foot" Stine, Jr., of Frederick, MD, lost his battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma at age 65 surrounded by loving family and friends. We lost our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Frederick City and County lost a tenacious and devoted member of the Law Enforcement Community. Born December 26, 1946, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Richard and Anna Margaret Shankle Stine. He was a graduate of Frederick High School class of 1964, he immediately enlisted in the US Navy. He served 3 combat tours in Vietnam on board the USS Coral Sea from 1964 to 1967. He was accepted into the Frederick City Police Department serving the department for 26 ½ years, he also served as an Investigator for the Frederick County State's Attorney for 12 years and most recently worked and volunteered for the Frederick County Sheriff's Office. He was formerly a member of the Junior Fire Company, and formerly was the first Ambulance Captain for the Libertytown Fire Department, a CPR Instructor and a First Responder Instructor for the Frederick City Police Department. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Francis Scott Key American Legion, both in Frederick. He was the devoted husband of Linda "Lynn "Stine, for 41 years. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, Joseph Michael Stine, of Woodsboro, a daughter, Sherry Lynn Doody-Nolan, and fiancé Jack Wagerman, of Waynesboro, PA, a granddaughter, Leann Windsor and fiancé' Josh Simpson, grandson Christopher Nolan, great grandchildren, Zachary Easterling and Taylor Simpson, a sister in law, Linda Sweeney of Walkersville, a cousin David Shankle of Frederick and many dear friends who quickly became family. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 and 6 to 9 p.m., on Friday, February 10, 2012, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 31 East Church Street, Frederick. The Rev. Dr. Terri Driver Bishop and Rev. Timothy S. May Sr., will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
