Bruce Marvin Stone

Mr. Bruce Marvin Stone, 89, of Frederick, died Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Martinsburg VA Medical Center from cancer. He was the husband of Wilhelmina "Dolly " (Harper) Stone for 65 years. Born August 19, 1922, in Frederick, he was the son of the late John M. and Katherine (Roberts) Stone. Mr. Stone enlisted in the US Army Air Corp. on October 27, 1942. He was a T/Sgt. in the Eighth Airforce, a member of the 351st Bomb Group and the 511th Squadron. On February 24, 1944 he was shot down and captured over Germany. He spent over 14 months in multiple prison camps before he was liberated by General Patton's 3rd Army in the Mossburg prison. He was the owner of Stone Radio TV Sales and Service. He was a Master Electrican. In later years, he collected and refinished antique furniture and toys. He was a member of the American Legion Post #11 and the Frederick Elks Club #684. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Gwynn Kersh of Lancaster, PA, grandson, Keith E. Kersh and longtime girlfriend Leonora Lantella of Frederick, granddaughter, Kelly Kersh Harnly and husband Graham of Lititz, PA, step-granddaughter, Shannon Kersh Stanley and husband Michael of Frederick, sisters, Margaret Bonney and Patricia Hobbs, great-grandchildren, Alexis Harnly, Mason Harnly, Alyssa Honaker, Tori Stanley and Jenna Stanley, numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Judy Jeffers and Mildred Tawney, brothers, James Stone and Edward Stone. The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service. Rev. Kenneth E. Gill Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Luke's Cemetery, Feagaville.
