Mr. James Edward "Jim" Gaver, 82, of Frederick, died on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at Homewood at Crumland Farms. He was the husband of 60 years to Jean Dolores "Duddy" Dutrow Gaver. Born in Frederick on September 9, 1929, he was a son of the late Morris Edward and Lulu Stull Gaver. Jim attended Frederick High School, but with his love of flying, he enlisted in the United States Air Force for four years, serving two of those on the Island of Guam. Following his honorable discharge, he began his career with the telephone company, beginning with C & P, Bell Atlantic, and finally Verizon for 33 years. Jim was a long time member of the Grace United Church of Christ, Frederick, where he served as a Deacon, Board of Trustees and on various committees. For many years, Jim was an associate of the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home. He was a life member of the Junior Fire Company, # 2, Inc., where he served in many capacities, Francis Scott Key American Legion Post # 11, The Frederick Elks Lodge, and Telephone Pioneers. Jim and Duddy enjoyed traveling for many years, high lighting their final trip to Australia and New Zealand. In addition to his wife,Jim is survived by his children, Steven Keith Gaver and wife Mamie Weber Gaver, of Lake Wylie, South Carolina, and Nancy Gaver Weeks and husband Jeffrey D. Weeks, of Frederick, Grandchildren, Jared M. Gaver, of Dublin, Ohio, Keith M. Gaver, of Waynesville, Ohio, Ashleigh N. Miller, of Arlington, Virginia, Timothy A. Miller and Emily N. Weeks, both of Frederick. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Gaver Esworthy and two brothers, Walter T. Gaver and Irvin B. Gaver. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Friday, March 2, 2012, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 3, 2012, from the Grace United Church of Christ, Frederick. The Rev. Dr. Douglas L. Griffin, interim pastor of the church and Rev. Dr. Barbara Kershner Daniel, pastor of Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ, will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. Honorary pallbearers will be; Howard Selby, Bob McAfee, Dick Basford, Gordon Smith, Charles Abrecht, Grayson "Jeep" Abrecht and James Deater. Active pallbearers will be; Jared M. Gaver, Keith M.
