Mr. Jerry William Baker, 66, of Frederick, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. He was the husband of Mary Ellen Baker. They were married July 15, 1970. Born February 6, 1946 in Chambersburg, PA, he was a son of the late Nora Straley Baker and William I. Baker. Jerry graduated from Chambersburg Area Senior High School, class of 1964, and Shippensburg State College, 1968, where he studied History Education. Following college, Jerry served in the U.S. Army seeing action in Vietnam. He drove an Armored Personnel Carrier, and Jerry was awarded numerous medals for service and marksmanship. He was honorably discharged in 1970. Jerry was an active member of Evangelical Reformed Church, as well as a long time contributor and volunteer of the Frederick Symphony Orchestra. He was an avid fan of classic rock music, especially Bob Dylan. Jerry was well known for his ever present smile, jokes, and "loud" neckties. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two siblings, Bonita Barlup and Michael S. Baker; two sons, Jeffrey Baker and wife, Laura, and Joseph Baker and wife, Ashley; and two grandchildren, Callie and Eli; and many loved extended family members and friends. At the time of his death, Jerry was employed by Wells Fargo & Company as an Operations Analyst. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at 2pm on Saturday, March 31, at the Evangelical Reformed United Church of Christ at 11 W. Church Street in downtown Frederick.
