Mr. Edwin Duane Killebrew, 72, of Frederick, MD, passed away Saturday, March 31, 2012 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of 43 years to Julia Morison Killebrew. Born May 8, 1939 in Washington, he was the son of the late Edwin Henry and Lela Carter Killebrew. Edwin joined the United States Marine Corps in 1951 serving 4 years, later joining the United States Navy in 1956. During his service of 25 years, he worked as an Air Traffic Controller and served onboard the USS America during the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of several United States Naval medals including the Navy Expeditionary Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. After retiring as a Senior Chief, he worked for several private contractors for the Navy in the Washington D.C. area, the last being Delta Resources. Edwin was an avid boater and fisherman, favoring the waters of the Potomac. After his retirement from Delta, he enjoyed volunteering for his community. He loved his country and served it well and we are all blessed by his doing so. In addition to his wife, Edwin is survived by one son, Edward M. Killebrew and three daughters, Merryn A. Price, Meloney G. Pyers, and Elizabeth M. Boner. He was Poppy to his eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
