Mr. James Edward Main, 79, of Littleton, NC, formerly of Frederick, died Friday, April 13, 2012, at the Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA. He was the husband of the late Marcia Fay Zimmerman, who passed away September 29, 2001. Born on September 22, 1932, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Evelyn (Ridenour) Main. Mr. Main was a graduate of Frederick High School Class of 1950. He attended St. James Prep School and Washington and Lee University. He was drafted into the US Army, where he served from 1961 to 1963. As a civilian, he worked for Ft. Detrick as a Sewage Plant Manager until his retirement in 1988. Mr. Main was very active as a coach for the Frederick Midget Football League, Babe Ruth Baseball and American Little League. In 1992, he moved to Littleton, NC, where he became a member of Tanglewood Shores Golf Club and the local Moose Lodge. For several years, he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity. In his spare time. he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Main is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Main and wife Becky of Frederick and Commander CDR Jay E. Main and wife Suzanne of Alexandria, VA, brother, Wilbur L. Main of Frederick, grandchildren, Jenny Owen and husband Adam of Hagerstown, Joseph Main and fiance Emily Hill of Frederick, Xavier J. Main, Jazelle M. Main and Xander J. Main, all of Alexandria, VA, great-grandchildren, Kelly M. Rodriquez, Alex R. Rodriquez and Autumn R. Owen, all of Hagerstown. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Frank J. Main. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 pm, on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, April 19, 2012, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel. Rev. Dr. James Flora will officiate. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
