Margarete Mcclain Kemp

Mrs. Margarete McClain Kemp, 91, of Frederick, died on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph Lee Kemp. Born on June 19, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Edward M. McClain and Agnes Fink. Mrs. Kemp was a member of the Bush Creek Church of the Brethren. She was a 1941 graduate of the Frederick Memorial Hospital Nursing School and was a member of the FMH Nursing Alumni. She especially loved living on her farm in Mount Pleasant and was an avid card player and a fan of the Manning family of football players. Mrs. Kemp is survived by her children Alan L. Kemp and his wife Barbara of Frederick and Sherry E. Kemp of Mt. Pleasant, granddaughter Elena Kemp as well as brothers Donald McClain and wife Eleanor of Monrovia and Bernard McClain and wife Virginia of New Market and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers Robert P. McClain and Edward M. McClain. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 6 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 7 at 11:00 AM in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home, Reverend Charles G. Beekley officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Kenny McClain, Eddie McClain, John Thompson, Harry O. Smith, Carl Johnson and Richard E. "Rick" Graf. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bush Creek Church of the Brethren, 4821-A Green Valley Road, Monrovia, Maryland 21770.
