Mr. John Michael Rosenwald, age 57 of Frederick, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the City Hospital in Martinsburg, WV. He was the husband for 36 years of Frances (Guest) Rosenwald. Born on July 9, 1954, he was the son of the late Albert "Jack" Rosenwald and Julia (Arnold) Rosenwald, of Chestertown, MD. Mr. Rosenwald was a 1972 graduate of Thomas Johnson High School. He continued his studies at Kansas State University in Pittsburg, Kansas, graduating in 1976 with a degree in graphic design. He first worked at Graphic Visions Associates in Gaithersburg in the early 1980's, becoming a partner in the business. In 1998 began working at the Department of Transportation/NHTSA. He enjoyed playing blue grass music in two bands, Hangfire and the Orchard Boys, in which he sang and played the Mandolin and fiddle. He loved his family, enjoyed trips to the beach, and sailing. He was a life long member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Frederick. Mr. Rosenwald is the father of Justin Patrick Rosenwald and wife Nicole of Martinsburg WV, Evan Michael Rosenwald and partner Katie Byrd of Frederick and the grandfather of Brayden Rosenwald. He was the brother of James Rosenwald and wife Anne of Frederick, Jeffrey Rosenwald and wife Tammy of Frederick, Dr. Joseph Rosenwald and wife Sophany of Rockville, and Julie Armistead and husband William of Morgantown, WV. He is additionally survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends will be received on Thursday, May 10, 2012 from 7 to 9 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. A memorial mass is planned for Friday, May 11, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 118 E. Second Street, Frederick. Father Meguel Mateo will officiate. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Rosenwald's name to the charity of one's choice.
