Madeline "Gram" Elizabeth (Harshman) Boone, 101, of Braddock Heights, died May 10th, 2012. She was the wife of the late Charles James Boone and a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Born October 8th, 1910 in Myersville MD, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Leatherman Harshman and Nellie Johnson Harshman of Middletown. She was preceded in death by one brother: Marion Harshman, and one sister: Helen Rudy and sister-in-law: Elaine Harshman. She was a graduate of the Class of 1928 from Middletown High School and attended Towson Normal School. Mrs. Boone taught for many years in Frederick County at Middletown Elementary, Parkway and Elm Street Schools. She was a lifelong Lutheran attending Zion Lutheran Church as a youth, then a devoted member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick for over 60 years where she was active in many ministries of the church. She served as teacher and superintendent of the Primary and Junior Sunday School for over 30 years. She served two terms on the Church Council, becoming the first woman in the church's history to be elected to the Council. Devoted to her family and loving each dearly, she always had great pride in their accomplishments. Surviving are her loving daughter and son-in-law: Constance and George Strasberger, Braddock Heights; three grandchildren with whom she held a very special relationship: Lynn Einfeldt and husband Scott, Atlanta GA; Stephen Strasberger, Hobe Sound, FL; Beth Hogberg and husband Robert, Atlanta, GA; four great-grandchildren: Hillary Einfeldt, Nathaniel Einfeldt, Matthew Hogberg, and Robert Hogberg; one niece: Jeannette Brust, Middletown; three nephews: Kenneth Rudy and wife Carol ,Frederick, Richard Rudy and wife Janet, Middletown, Gary Rudy and wife Hope, Middletown, several grand nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. James Roessler, his staff (Middletown Valley Family Medicine) and Katy Mossburg, a special caregiver and friend for their devoted care. She will be dearly missed and remembered fondly by her family and many friends. Mrs. Boone will be remembered for always showing courage, strength, support, compassion and kindness to all. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:00 am on Monday, May 14, 2012, at the Zion Lutheran Church, 107 West Main Street, Middletown. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 am on Monday, May 14, 2012. Pastor David Albertson will officiate. Interment will follow at the Middletown Lutheran Cemetery.
