Mr. Clyde "Archie" Thomas, age 92, of Adamstown died on May 16, 2012 at Edenton Retirement Community, Frederick. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary Page Thomas. After 50 years of marriage, she passed away on November 2, 2002. Mr. Thomas was born in Adamstown, on November 18, 1919. He was the eldest son of Kate Crum and Lee Cephas Thomas. Mr. Thomas graduated from both Frederick High School and Western Maryland College (currently McDaniel). During W.W.II he was a trainer for plane maintenance serving in the Army Air Corp on Okinawa. After returning state side, he worked for the Frederick Canning Company. Shortly after marrying his bride, he worked for "best years of our lives" together on the family farm until 1972. Mr. Thomas finished his working life at the Frederick Trading Company. Surviving is a daughter Marybelle Posey; two grandchildren, Virginia Griesemer (husband Jeremiah and children Kathryn, Bonnie, and Jeremiah III) and Mary Stewart (husband Michael and children Michael and Kevin). He is also survived by sisters Lucille Hall and Myrtle Painter and a brother Raymond Thomas, along with many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 20, 2012 from 7 to 9 PM at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick, where services will be held on Monday, May 21 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Rev. Patricia Abell of Forest Grove United Methodist Church will officiate. The interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
