Mrs. Anna Mae Miller Minnick, 88, of Frederick, died on Friday, May 25, 2012, at Homewood at Crumland Farms. She was the wife of the late Howard L. Minnick, who died in 1990. Born in Frederick on October 30, 1923, she was a daughter of the late George L. and Orpha Haupt Miller. Mrs. Minnick was a graduate of Frederick High School Class of 1941. She was retired from JC Penney's where she had worked for many years as a sales clerk. She was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and volunteered in the church office. She was a member of AARP and the Rainbow Belles. For 16 years she was an active volunteer for the Frederick Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a former member of the Francis Scott Key American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving her are three children, Darrell L. Minnick and wife Linda, of Middletown, Marsha L. Opel, of Thurmont and Linda A. Knott and husband David, of Walkersville, six grandchildren; Scott Opel and wife Janet, Kenny Knott, and wife Tina, Ryan Knott and girl friend, Daphne O'Donnell, Debbie Offutt and husband Timmy, Corey Minnick and wife Nicole, and Craig Minnick, seven great grandchildren; Kayla and Kasey Opel, Tyler Knott, Alexis and Dylan Offutt, Noah and Rachel Minnick, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Rick Opel, two brothers, George Miller and William H. S. Miller and three sisters, Elizabeth Wightman, Virginia Miller and Alma Jones. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff and care givers at Homewood, who took such great care of Mrs. Minnick. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Monday, May 28, 2012, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Robert Driver Bishop, pastor of Evangelical Lutheran Church, will officiate. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown.
