Mrs. Rosalie Ann Turner Long, 74, of Frederick, died on Saturday, May 26, 2012, at her home. She was the loving wife of 41 years to the late William H. Long, who died on December 15, 1997. Born in Frederick, on January 19, 1938, she was a daughter of the late Charles I. Turner and Anna Margaret Mowery Turner. Rosalie had worked for many years as a seamstress for H. L. Hartz and Sons, of Frederick, and as a greeter for 13 years at the Walmart Store on Guilford Drive, retiring in December of 2011, for health reasons. She was a life member of the Francis Scott Key Unit # 11, American Legion Auxiliary, 8 & 40 Salon 57, Department of Maryland. She was nominated American Legion Auxiliary member of the year in 1994-95, of the State of Maryland. She volunteered over 2,000 hours with the Martinsburg V. A. Medical Center, along with driving the D. A. V. Van from Frederick to Martinsburg. She was a member of Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church. Surviving are her children, Thomas "Tommy " Long and wife Kim, of Walkersville, and Diana L. Long, of Frederick, her special granddaughter, Amy Marie McCarter and husband Kane, of Wolfsville, and her very special four great grandchildren Hannah, Hunter, Payton and Giavanna, three brothers, Robert C. Turner, Sr., and wife Virginia, Carroll I. Turner and wife Barbara, Paul V. Turner and sister, Anna M. "Cookie" Smith, and many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by a special aunt, Marie Kendall and her daughters, Jane and Janet. She had many friends, including her friends from McDonald's and special friends, Carrie Kennedy, Linda Mercer and Connie Horn. She was preceded in death by a nephew, Charles Eugene Smith. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, May 31, 2012 , at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. A memorial service will begin at 7:00 p.m., and the American Legion Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 7:30 PM. Deacon John L. Manley, wiil officate. Private inurnment will be at a later date at the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
