Maudie A. Hanshew

April 1, 1919 — June 17, 2012

Mrs. Maudie Arlila Hanshew, 93, of Frederick, died on June 17, 2012 at Citizen's Care and Rehabilitation Center. Born on April 1, 1919 near Feagaville, she was the daughter of the late Cave Ramsburg and Clantha Baker Ramsburg. She was the wife of the late Grover "Jeff" Leroy Hanshew. Mrs. Hanshew was a homemaker, and was a member of Harmony Church of the Brethren. In addition to her own children, she raised her grandson Edward Shelton, Sr. and her great-grandson Edward Shelton, Jr. She is survived by her children Dora A. Miller, Delores Hanshew, 12 Grandchildren, 29 Great-Grandchildren and 14 Great-Great Grandchildren as well as her sister Mary Specht and her husband Paul. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ruth Blank and her siblings Harry Ramsburg, Dora Wiles and Clyde Ramsburg. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 from 5-8 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 11 AM in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home, Rev. Tracy Wiser officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harmony Church of the Brethren, 3924 Brethren Church Road, Myersville, Maryland 21773.
