JoAnn Humberson Schrodel, 73, beloved wife of Charles S "Jack" Schrodel died at Frederick Memorial Hospital on Monday, July 02, 2012. They would have celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on September 1st. Born in Wolfsville on July 4, 1938 she was the daughter of the late George B. and Lenore Morgan Humberson. JoAnn was a graduate of Frederick High School, class of 1956, West Chester State College and the University of Texas at Dallas. She taught in Pennsylvania and Texas schools for 25 years before retiring from the Plano Independent School District in 1996. JoAnn and her husband, both natives of Frederick County, returned to Frederick in 1998. In addition to her husband, she is survived by children; Charles S. Schrodel III (Cheryl) of Plano, Texas, David G. Schrodel (Jackie) of Leonard, Texas and Elizabeth S. Perry (Donald) of Monte Sereno, California; seven grandchildren: Jennifer Slater (Jason), Jared, Matthew, Reid, and Cole Schrodel,Philip and, ChristopherPerry, and great granddaughter Audrey Slater. JoAnn is also survived by her two sisters Martha Christopher (Timothy) and Mary Martin (Robert); both from Frederick, Maryland. JoAnn was an active member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Frederick Chapter, DAR and the Senior Recreation Council. Her church and her family were most important in her life. She also enjoyed genealogy, gardening and travel. She had visited all 50 states and every continent except Antarctica. Throughout her extended illness, she never complained or became depressed but kept a smile on her face and was always concerned about others. JoAnn was an eternal optimist who had an unquestionable faith in God. The family will receive friends at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, on Thursday, July 5, 2012 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. The Funeral will be held at Evangelical Lutheran Church on Friday, July 6,2012 at 11:00AM. Rev. Dr. Terri Driver-Bishop, will officiate. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the service in Trunk Hall.
