Ruby Jane Fitting

Ruby Jane Fitting, age 93, passed away on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at the Kline Hospice House, Mt. Airy. Ruby was born in Frederick County on October 4, 1918 to Dewey B. and Elizabeth J. Wiles. She graduated from Frederick High School and pursued a career as a beautician with Young's Beauty Shop. Later she owned and operated several beauty businesses in PA. She retired to New Port Richey, Florida where she was employed as a school crossing guard with the Pasco County Sheriffs Department. She retired again at the age of 89 and was recognized as the oldest school crossing guard in the Pasco County system. Ruby returned to Frederick in 2007 and became a resident at Country Meadows, Frederick. She was predeceased in death by her husband Elwood Fitting. She is survived by a daughter Dawne K. Howard and husband Larry L., of Frederick, grandson Erik and wife Cami of Walkersville, great-grandsons Zachary and Ryan Howard of Walkersville, brother Dewey V. Wiles of Dallas TX. She is remembered by a host of good friends at Country Meadows. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 10 AM at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel, 515 S. Market St., Frederick. Rev. Dr. Thomas J. Huff, chaplain at Country Meadows, will officiate. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Kline Hospice House, PO Box 1799, Frederick, Maryland 21702. Arrangements conducted by the Keeney & Basford P.A. Funeral Home, Frederick.
