Mrs. Elizabeth Tomlinson Corson, 92, died peacefully on July 21, 2012, at the Homewood Retirement Center, Williamsport, MD. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Corson, Sr. on June 29, 1996 and daughter, Cathleen on Oct. 31, 2005; her parents; three brothers: Vivian, Eugene, Billy and brother-in-law, Lewis Bilbrey. Born July 17, 1920 in Lebanon, Tennessee she was the eldest of the six children of John J. and Cora Johnson Tomlinson. Married Nov 23, 1939, Elizabeth and Carl made their home in Philadelphia PA. In 1946, they moved to Frederick, MD where Carl established Frederick Automotive. Becoming members of Grace United Church of Christ, she was very active in the Golden Ray Sunday School Class. Later the family became members of Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown, MD. Moving to Braddock Heights, MD in 1956, she joined the Skyline Homemakers. Retiring to Sun City Center, Florida in 1984, Elizabeth and Carl were faithful members of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Elizabeth was a loving wife and mother who lived her faith each day. She loved to travel, visit her children, was an avid card player and reader. The family would like to thank all those at Homewood who made Elizabeth's last years comfortable and enjoyable. Many thanks also to Pastor Linda Alesandri for her faithful friendship and spiritual guidance. Surviving children are: Marie E. Dean (Gaither), Waynesboro, PA; Carl A. Corson, Jr. (Dianne Ahalt), Maui, Hawaii; John W. Corson (Kristal Mason), The Villages, FL; and Nancy A. Roberson (Bruce), Myersville, MD. Six grandchildren: Desarie Gregory (Michael), Smithsburg, MD; Laura Noffsinger (John), Frederick, MD; Heather Moffo (Brian), Schwenksville, PA; Brian Corson (Nicole), Smithsburg, MD; Adam Corson (Chrissy),Winchester, VA, and Anna Rutledge (Neil Dittbenner), Towson, MD. Elizabeth was blessed with eleven great grandchildren. Her sister Christine Bilbrey, of Hendersonville, TN and brother J.J. Tomlinson (Frankie) of Lebanon, Tennessee also survive as do sisters-in-law, Frances, Clearwater, Fl. and Doris, Fulton, MS. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 28, at 10 a.m. in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the Funeral Home. Pastor Linda Alesandri will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
