Melanie Dawn Boore-Whitson

September 24, 1977 — August 7, 2012

Melanie Dawn Boore-Whitson, 34, of Shippensburg, PA passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Hershey Medical Center after a life long struggle with chronic kidney disease. Born Sept. 24, 1977, she was the daughter of Kim Sowder-Boore of Junction City, Kansas, and Michael L. and Janet Boore of Hardy, Virginia. She graduated from Delhi Academy in New York, class of 1996 and attended Westminster High school until 11th grade. Melanie loved her family. She also loved the water; she enjoyed swimming and had a passion for the ocean. She loved animals, enjoyed the holidays, going on motorcycle rides, traveling, music and singing. In addition to her parents, she is survived by one brother Brian J. Boore of Oneonta, NY; paternal grandmother Rose Marie Boore of Frederick, MD; maternal grandfather Charles Sowder of Junction City, KS; niece, Stephanie Parks; several aunts, uncles, cousins and family. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather Donald Boore and maternal grandmother Jo Ann Sowder. A celebration of Melanie's life will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, August 11, 2012, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD, 21701.
