Curtis Martin Mitchell, 44, originally from Gaithersburg, MD, died on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Kline Hospice House in Frederick. Born in Charlottesville, VA on July 4, 1968, Curtis was the son of John and Dorothy Mitchell. Curtis was a graduate of Gaithersburg High School and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. He worked for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. He enjoyed world travel, art, Virginia Tech football and spending time with family. His friends remember him for his sense of adventure, big smile and sense of humor. Curtis is survived by his parents, John and Dorothy Mitchell; his sister, Sally and husband Cliff Meyers; nieces Rubie and Maddie Meyers; aunt, Margaret Dexter; uncle Rick Dexter; and cousins Richard, Travis and Brett Dexter. The family will receive friends at Calvary United Methodist Church, 131 West 2nd Street, Frederick, MD on Friday, August 17, from 6-8 p.m. A memorial service will also be held at the church on Saturday, August 18 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Kline Hospice House, 7000 Kimmel Road, Mt. Airy, MD 21771.
