Mrs. Barbara Ellen Lee Hannigan, 89, of Frederick, died on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late James G. Hannigan, Jr., who died in 2009. Born in North Charleroi, Pennsylvania, on July 9, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Joseph and Margaret McCahill Lee. Mrs. Hannigan proudly served her country during WW II in the US Coast Guard. She was retired from the Frederick Memorial Hospital, where she had worked in the admission office. She was a member Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church and the Catholic daughter's. Surviving are her children, son, James G. Hannigan III and wife Nancy, of Walkersville, daughter, Bridgid Knott and husband Larry, of Frederick, son, Larry M. Neidringhaus and wife Diane, of Frederick, and daughter-in-law, Linda Neidringhaus, of Shepherdstown, West Virginia, one sister, Mary Grummer, of Charleroi, PA, nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Maurice A. Neidringhaus and a grandson, Kyle M. Knott. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m., on Friday, August 31, 2012, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. A memorial mass will be held at 10:00 a.m.,on Saturday, September 1, 2012, at Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 East Second Street, Frederick.
