Lorraine Lowell Linton, 88, of Southern Pines, North Carolina formerly of Frederick, Maryland, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2012 at St. Joseph of the Pines Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Russell Lee Linton who passed away March 3, 1996. Born January 17, 1924 in Frederick County, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Earl M. and Blanche (Whitehair) Lowell. She graduated from Middletown High School. She worked many years as a secretary and retired from Hood College. Lorraine had been a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick for many years before moving to North Carolina. Her strong faith helped her through many years after she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. She is survived by one daughter Pamela L. Doubroff and husband Jerome of Pinehurst, North Carolina; one son Keith E. Linton of Burlington, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Charles D. Loughry II and wife Rhonda of Lancaster, South Carolina, Morgan Linton and Marybeth Linton of Burlington and great-granddaughters Tori Loughry and Taylor Loughry of Lancaster; sister-in-law Harriet Lowell of Arizona, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers: Charles Lowell and Kenneth Lowell. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday, September 17, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, Maryland 21701. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Tuesday, September 18, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
