Mr. Warren Franklin "Steelman" Bowers, 64, of Frederick, died Sunday, September 23, 2012 at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Barbara (Knippenburg) Bowers. Born on January 17, 1948, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Glenn Franklin and Esther Elva (Wetzel) Bowers. He played the steel guitar for the Lee Brothers for many years. He was a HAM radio operator and would spend hours on the computer. Warren retired from St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church after many years of service. He will be missed by his dog, Winnie. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Tammy Bowers and fiance Marshall King and Amy Edwards and husband Curtis, brothers, Ronald Bowers and Wayne Bowers and wife Patty, sister, Shirley Baer, grandchildren, Tevin Edwards, Aiden Seraton and Ava Seraton, sister-in-law, Kathy Cornwell and husband Richard, extended family, Amy Lyles, Lori Seraton and husband Jermaine and Dorothy Burke, numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Amaya Seraton, siblings, Martha Fink, Elva Yeager and Glenn "Bud" Bowers Jr., and brother-in-law, Bruce Baer. The family will receive friends from 3 to 6p.m., on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. The funeral service will begin at 6:00 PM following the viewing. Pastor Daniel Quiram will officiate. Inurnment will be private.
