Mr. Stiney Albert Masaitis, 95, of Frederick, died Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Kathryn (Yasenchalk) Masaitis. Born March 10, 1917, in Tamaqua, PA, he was the son of the late Frank and Tilly (Yankauskas) Masaitis. He was a US Navy World War II veteran, serving in the European, Italian and Pacific theaters. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying gardening, golf and riding in his golf cart watching the horses with his beloved dog, Francis. Stiney was a football fan, rooting for Penn State and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He enjoyed traveling, especially his trip to see his family in Lithuania. He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Johnson and husband Timothy, sister, Eleanor Baddick, son-in-law, Terry Wills and wife Christine, special friend, Jack Esslinger, numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Diane Wills. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm, on Monday October 1, 2012, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 E. 2nd Street, Frederick. Father Kevin Farmer will officiate. Interment will be at St. John's Cemetery.
