Mr. Robert Whitter Renn, 85, of the Somerford House, Frederick, peacefully entered into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on October 9, 2012. He was the husband of the late Darlene Hall Renn. They were married 47 years. Born July 22, 1927 in Doubs, MD, he was the son of the late Meredith E. and Helen C. Whitter Renn. Mr. Renn graduated from Frederick High School, class of 1945. He retired in 1986 from Fort Detrick with 35 years of service. After retiring from government service, he was employed by the Board of Education as a Special Education School Bus Driver retiring with 15 years of service. Mr. Renn served two tours in the United States Army; one during World War II and the other one during the Korean Conflict. He treasured spending time with his precious grandchildren, family and friends. He was a devout member of Grace Trinity United Church of Christ, Old Baltimore Road, serving as Treasurer, Consistory and Choir Member for many years. He enjoyed many wonderful hours of music ministry by playing the piano and singing gospel hymns. He was also a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Chapter No. 409, and the Loyal Order of Moose No. 371. He was the proud, devoted father to his loving family, one daughter, Lisa Ann Frederick and husband, Adam, of Woodsboro, MD; one son, Mark Hanson Renn and wife Lisa of Frederick, MD; five adored grandchildren, Christopher, David and Elaina Frederick of Woodsboro, MD and Jordyn and Andrew Renn of Frederick, MD; one brother, William M. Renn and wife Doris of Jefferson, MD; one sister, Betty J. Thomas and husband Raymond of Frederick, MD; one sister-in-law, Irma E. Coleman and of Ijamsville, MD and several nieces and nephew. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Edward Coleman. Visitation will be from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Thursday, October 11, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Friday, October 12, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. David Hughes, long-time friend will officiate.
