Dolly Mae Kinna Smith

June 30, 1936 — October 13, 2012

Dolly Mae Kinna Smith, 76, received a promotion from this earthly life as her spirit peacefully left this realm and found freedom, due to Myxofibrosarcoma, on Saturday, October 13, 2012, surrounded by her loving family at the Kline Hospice House. She was the daughter of the late Atlee and Gladys Kinna, Old Braddock. Dolly was the loving, devoted wife, and best friend of Richard "Dick" Smith for 56 years. Together they enjoyed many years in Assateague. They were blessed with a wonderful life together cut short way too early by this disease. She graduated from Frederick High School, class of 1954. Dolly retired from National Geographic Society and as President of Dick Smiths Carpets. She is survived by daughter, Kim Anita Roberson and husband Bob, grandchildren, Phillip and Sarah Roberson, Jenna-Brooke and Marc Destefano. A very loving Ammie to great-granddaugthers Vallorie Mae and Cheyenne Marie Roberson. Sisters Janice Hicks and husband Bob, and Thelma Horn as well as special nieces, April Horn-Ausherman, Jo Ann Cashman and Jennifer Nordstrom along with nephews Chip Horn, Jerry Hicks. A casual visitation only will be held at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701 on Sunday, October 21, 2012 from 2-4. Please bring written memories and thoughts that will go into a booklet made by the grandchildren for our family to treasure and share during this difficult time. As requested by Dolly in lieu of flowers/food please make donations to the following: Federated Charities, 22 Market Street, Frederick, MD 21701 and Glade Valley Center Rehab Department, 56 W. Frederick Street, Walkersville, MD 21793. Special thanks to Glade Valley Center of Walkersville, FMH Lymphedema Massage PT, and Hospice of Frederick County and the staff at the Kline Hospice House. To her friendly, loving gang of lifelong neighbors she thanks each of you for sharing in her journey. There were many special angels that gave Dolly and our family excellent care during her illness we will be forever grateful to each of you.
