Mr. Casper Charles Murphy, 89, of Ijamsville, died Monday, October 22, 2012 at Kline Hospice House in Mount Airy. He was the husband of Ruth Frances Duffey Murphy. Born April 11, 1923 in Ijamsville, he was the son of the late Charles Edward and Mamie Eugenia Warfield Murphy. He was a 1940 graduate of Frederick High School. A devoted, lifelong farmer in Ijamsville, he was a member of Saint Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church. Mr. Murphy is survived by three sons, Patrick Murphy and wife Mary of Ijamsville, Timothy Murphy of Ijamsville, Matthew Murphy and Ann Ott of Thurmont; one daughter, Maryanne Spencer and husband Carey of Ijamsville; one sister, Courtney Irene O'Connor, formerly of Idaho and now residing in Alabama with her daughter; two grandsons, Benjamin Murphy and Joseph Murphy and fiancé Alli Brown; four sister-in-laws Ann Murphy, Lillian Murphy, Joan Kemp and Thelma Duffey, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Merhle Murphy and wife Mildred, Gene Murphy and wife Lucille, Wilford Murphy and wife Mary Edith, Harry Murphy and Rockne Murphy with whom he farmed; two sister Dorothy Bell Cunningham and husband Marion and Mary Alice Thompson and husband Richard; and three brother-in-laws, Thomas O'Connor, Bill Duffey and Lowell Kemp. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 25 at Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 26 at Saint Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Church of Ijamsville, with Father Michael J. Jendrek as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. Pallbearers will be David Murphy, Ronald Murphy, Steven Murphy, John Murphy, Jerry Murphy and Arnold Murphy.
