Alma May Derr

Mrs. Alma May "Ganny" Derr, 95, of Frederick, died on Thursday, October 25, 2012, at the Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Francis H. Derr. Born in Shookstown on March 2, 1917, she was one of nine children, to the late William A. and Rosa M. Putman Masser. Mrs. Derr was a busy lady, having worked at the School for the Deaf, Martins Air Craft where she did some welding during WW II, she worked several years at Frederick Tailoring and also Muse Tailoring, and for many years she was a medical receptionist for Doctor's in Frederick and Baltimore. She was a long time member of the Brook Hill United Methodist Church and a life member and founder of the Shookstown Civic Association Surviving are many family members, daughter, Sylvia F. Peppe and husband Ronald, of Frederick, step children, Marlene Rollins and Don, Janice Evans and Fran Barrick and George, four grandchildren, Ronald Wayne Peppe II and Elizabeth, Suzanne Rumpf and David, Melissa L. Peppe and Doug Gibson, and Jennifer M. Hahn and Michael, also surviving are several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by former husband's, Chester A. Herbert and Earl F. Funk and her siblings, Arthur Masser, Grayson Masser, Fred Masser, Leroy Masser, Ida Derr, Isabelle Chance, Catherine Gross, and Pauline Stitley. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, November 1, 2012, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Ken Walker, pastor of Brook Hill United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in the St. Luke's Cemetery, Feagaville. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be in her memory to the Auxiliary of Citizens Care and Rehabilitation Center, 1920 Rosemont Ave., Frederick, MD 21702 or to the Brook Hill United Methodist Church, 8946 Indian Springs Road, Frederick, MD 21702.
