Mrs. Ann Janet Holtzinger, 84 of Frederick, died Monday October 29, 2012 at Frederick Memorial Hospital with her husband and family at her side. She was the wife of John E. Holtzinger, Jr., who she married on March 26, 1951. Born on July 14, 1928 in Altoona, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late William and Katherene (Heddinger) Brodbeck. Ann was a graduate of Altoona Area High School. She graduated from Penn State University in 1950 with a Bachelor's Degree and she also obtained an Associates Degree in Nursing at Frederick Community College in 1974. She raised six children and resided in Frederick since 1961. Ann worked prodigiously on home improvement, enjoyed gardening, and was a tireless worker. She transformed the landscape at the family's South Clifton Road home. She is also enjoyed playing tennis and golf, and was one of the founding members of the Tuscarora Tennis Barn. Ann was employed as a lab technician at Gallinger Hospital in Washington, D.C. and then at Frederick Memorial Hospital in the Emergency Department as a Registered Nurse in addition to being a full time mom. She was a member of the Frederick Garden Club, a Brownie Troop Leader and a Sunday School teacher. She was a master at balancing many responsibilities, but never lost her sense of humor. Surviving in addition to her husband, are her children, daughter Lou Ann Eader and husband Granison Eader of Blue Bell, PA., daughter Kathy Conner and husband Christopher Conner of Mechanicsburg, PA., daughter Grethen Levine and husband Eric Levine of Frederick, MD., son Jeff Holtzinger and wife Pam Holtzinger of Frederick, MD., daughter Kim Whiteley and husband Doug Whiteley of Frederick, MD; grandchildren, Ted Eader, John Edward Holtzinger, IV (Jamie), Brian Holtzinger, Lauren Conner Neuberger ( Daniel), Greg Conner, Ben Conner, Casey Conner, Erika Levine Boccia ( Brian), Alex Levine, Caitlin Holtzinger Pelser ( Jacques), Ali Holtzinger, Will Holtzinger, Kylee Holtzinger, and Marc Whiteley; great grandchildren Amelia Boccia, and twins Brennan and Chase Holtzinger. Mrs. Holtzinger is also survived by her sister Muriel Waterfield of Delaware. She was predeceased by her son John E. Holtzinger, III of Altoona, PA. Mrs. Holtzinger also will be remembered by her dedicated and kind caregivers Margie Andrews, Latricia Brown, Renee Cameron, Jackie Minnick and Kelly Smith. The family is grateful for their kind, dedicated and loving care. In addition, she will be remembered by her family's dear friend, Mrs. Gloria Walters. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 on Sunday November 4, 2012 at Keeney Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick, MD. A memorial service celebrating her life will follow at 4:00 PM at the Funeral Home.
