Mrs. Doris Jane Davis, 78, of Frederick, died on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at the Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the loving wife of Charles E. Davis. Born in Frederick on November 4, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Edward Olin and Pauline Blank Veirtz. Mrs. Davis had worked for 23 years at the American Optical Company, in Frederick. She was a member of the First Church of God at Edgewood. Surviving in addition to her husband is one son, Wayne E. Davis, of Middletown, one daughter, Lori A. Oakes, of Frederick, sister-in-law, Barbara Veirtz, of Chambersburg, PA, seven grandchildren, Julie Wilber and husband Leroy, Jason Morgan and wife Maria, Kevin Oakes and wife Catherine, Melissa Davis, Jennifer Brown and husband Mike, Diane Bare and husband Matt, and Eric Davis, 13 great grandchildren, Josh, Jenna, Jaren, Jordan, Elizabeth, Jason Jr., Emily, Marielle, Lily, Tristyn, Kaelynn, Lana and Luke, also surviving are several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Trudy Ann Davis, her brother, Charles F. Veirtz, and daughter-in-law, Sharon Davis. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday, December 7, 2012, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at the First Church of God at Edgewood. Rev. John Culbertson and Rev. Joseph Burdette, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Rocky Springs Cemetery.
