Mrs. Roberta Diane "Bobby" Dyer, 73, of Frederick, died on Monday, December 31 at her home after an extended illness. She was the high school sweetheart and endearing wife of Colonel Richard F. Dyer, USAF (ret).for more than fifty-one years Born on November 24, 1939, in Boston, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Thomas F. McGarity and Blanche (Ritchie) Corrieri. Bobby graduated from the Jamaica Plain High School and the Beth Israel Hospital School of Dental Nursing in Boston and was a Certified Dental Assistant. Col. Dyer was in the Air Force for more than 28 years and he and Bobby have dear friends in England, Germany and throughout the United States. After Richard's 1990 retirement from the Air Force they remained in Frederick where they enjoyed traveling and entertaining. Bobby's greatest passion was giving to others. Bobby was a member of the First Baptist Church of Frederick since 1983. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Dyer is survived by her sister, Susan Frimond and her love Rajeev Malhotra of Clarksburg, brothers-in-law Dr. George W. Dyer, his wife Roberta,of Topsfield, MA and Edward A. Dyer and his wife, Janet of Centervillle, MA and many nieces and nephews. Richard expresses sincere appreciation to his family and friends for their love and support. Special thanks to Jill Barrett and the many caregivers of Hospice of Frederick County, Maryland. The family will receive friends on Friday, January 4, 2013 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Keeney and Basford PA Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the Funeral Home with Rev. Burnis Barrett of First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
