Mrs. Margaret Naomi Taylor Hooper, age 102 of Frederick died Monday, January 21, 2013 at Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late U. Merhl Hooper whom predeceased her on March 21, 1998. Born on December 16, 1910 in New Midway, Frederick County, she was the daughter of the late Raymond A. and Phoebe A. Eyler Taylor. After graduating from Frederick High School in 1928, Mrs. Hooper became a secretary at Three Springs Fishery (now Lilly Ponds). From 1932-1935 Mrs. Hooper was employed by the Potomac Edison Company in Frederick and in 1944 began working at the Western Maryland Trust company (now Bank of America). Mrs. Hooper was co-owner of the Leather Shop with her husband from 1957 until Mr. Hooper's retirement and closing of the business in 1972. In 1993 Mr. and Mrs. Hooper donated their collection of Frederick County grandfather clocks to the Frederick County Historical Society which are on permanent display at the society on East Church Street. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church of Frederick and The Frederick County Historical Society. Mrs. Hooper, the remaining survivor of her family was preceded in death by her husband and daughter, Dr. Sharon Irene Hooper and brothers, Ray E. Taylor, James F. Taylor and sisters Mrs. Albert (Catherine) Blumenauer and Mrs. M. Kemp (Dorothy) Bentz, nephews William A. Blumenauer and James R. Taylor and niece Linda Staley Ritchie. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, Patricia Blumenauer Dominik, James A. Blumenauer, Cathy Blumenauer Wetzel, James F. Putman, Richard D. Putman, Robert Grant Hooper, Elizabeth (Libby) Hooper Stauffer, Constance (Connie) Staley Browning, Joyce T. Fielder, and Raymond A. Taylor. Mrs. Hooper will be remembered by Ethel Poole, Joan Jackson, her many friends, neighbors and her very special friend Mary Jane Sanders. Mrs. Hooper was also predeceased by her friend and caretaker, Mrs. Jean Keiholtz. No visitation is planned; however funeral services will be on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 1 PM at Calvary United Methodist Church Chapel, 131 W. 2nd St., Frederick, MD 21701. Rev. Harry C. Cole will officiate. The interment will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Frederick Community Foundation for the U.
