Alma Darlene Routzahn

Mrs. Alma Darlene Routzahn, 82, of Frederick, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2013 at the Citizens Care & Rehabilitation Center. She was the loving wife of John Albert Routzahn Sr. whom she married on January 30, 1955. Born and raised in Wolfsville, Maryland on April 7, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Ivan and Virgie Cline Stottlemyer. Alma graduated from Middletown High School in 1947. She joined the United States Air Force shortly after graduation where she achieved the rank of Master Sergeant during her service during the Korean Conflict. Alma was a homemaker when her children were young and later worked as a retail sales associate for JC Penney as well as a school bus driver for FCPS. She retired from both after more than 30 years of service. She enjoyed spending time with her family, loved country music and watching her favorite show, Jeopardy. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Wolfsville, MD. Surviving besides her husband John, are her four children; John A. Routzahn Jr. and wife Cheryl of Clarksville, TN., Teresa A. Heyworth of Frederick, Charles O. Routzahn of Thurmont and Michael W. Routzahn and wife Sandra of Falling Waters, WV. She is survived by one sister, Doris Lovell of Owings Mills MD., six grandchildren, Rochelle Heyworth of Frederick, Lane Routzahn of Thurmont, Landon Routzahn of Thurmont, Emily Routzahn of Falling Waters WV., Jacob Routzahn of Falling Waters, W.V., and Meghan Routzahn of Clarksville, TN. Also surviving Alma are many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Pauline Rohrer and a brother, Charles Stottlemyer. The family would like to express its heart-felt thanks to the staff at Citizens Care & Rehabilitation Center for the kindness and care they provided during her stay at the facility. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, February 15, 2013, in the Etchison Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Her son Lt. Col. John A. Routzahn, Jr., will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. Pallbearers will be; Landon Routzahn, Vincent Cusimano, Michael Rohrer, Michael Routzahn, Charles Routzahn and Dale Wolf.
