Betty Lorraine Baugher

Mrs. Betty Lorraine Schultz Baugher, 84, of Old Receiver Road, Frederick, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, February 15, 2013, at the Kline Hospice House, Mt. Airy. Betty was the loving wife of 65 years to Charles William Baugher, Sr. They were married on February 6, 1948. Born in Frederick on May 27, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Albert C. and Isabelle R. Hilderand Schultz. Betty was a loving, caring and generous wife, sister, mother, grandmother and aunt. She was greatly loved by her family and many friends. Mrs. Baugher was a life-long member of the Edgewood Church of God of Frederick, and was active in the Young At Heart group there. She also was active in the Shookstown United Civic Association and booked rentals for the building until just a few weeks before her death. She also belonged to the Rocky Springs Cemetery Company. In her early adult years, Betty worked at Sagner's Sewing Factory and was also employed by the Hosiery, both of Frederick. Mrs. Baugher was a Frederick County Public School bus driver for nearly 24 years. She enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her children and grandchildren. She loved flowers and could often be found doctoring the sick plants of her children back to health. She helped her husband Charles with the family gardening, often canning fruits and vegetables in the summer. Betty and Charles enjoyed camping in the middle years of their marriage while raising their four children. Mrs. Baugher is survived four children: Rhonda Wills and husband Robert of Walkersville; Charles W. Baugher Jr. and wife Linda of Harrington, Delaware; Mark A. Baugher and wife Susan of Middletown; and Patricia Zimmerman and husband Ryan of Walkersville. Eleven grandchildren also survive: Jack Wills and wife Laura; Paul Wills and wife Ashley; Charles W. Baugher III and wife Julie; Crystal Gieryna and husband Geremy; Aaron Brendle and friend Brenda Fedorko; Jennifer Unglesbee and husband Alvie; Laura Doody and husband Robert; Joshua Zimmerman and wife Loretta; Amanda Zimmerman and fiancée James Strauss; Wayne Grantham and wife Becky; and Mike Grantham. Also surviving are eight great grandchildren: Darren and Alexa Wills; Tyler Thompson; Gavin Gieryna; Austin and Jacob Unglesbee; Payton Doody and Hayden Zimmerman. Mrs. Baugher also leaves two sisters: Caroline Price and husband Joseph, and Maria Colliflower; two sisters-in-law: Doris Schultz and Margaret Elliott; and two brothers-in-law: James Baker and Arthur (Pete) Baugher. She will also be lovingly remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews, other extended family members and her many friends. Mrs. Baugher was predeceased by two sisters, Dorothy Baker and Dollie Watkins; two brothers, Albert Schultz and Joe Schultz and a grandson, Richard Bailey. The Baugher family also wishes to thank those of Frederick County Hospice and the Kline Hospice House for their care and comfort of Mrs. Baugher. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Monday, February 18, 2013, at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at the Edgewood Church of God. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Rev. John Culbertson, interim pastor, Rev. Joseph Burdette, Pastor Robert C. Wills and Rev. Arthur C. "Pete" Baugher, Sr., will officiate. Interment will follow in the Rocky Springs Cemetery, Frederick.
