Mr. Merhl Allen Wachter, 60, of Frederick, died Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at his residence. He was the husband of Patricia Zigler-Wachter. Born on April 15, 1952, in Frederick, he was the son of the late Mehrl F. and Lola Rice Wachter. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ashton Michele. Mr. Wachter was a graduate of Gov. Thomas Johnson High School and was a self-employed Master Plumber for over 37 years. He was a long time member of the Citizens Truck Company #4 of Frederick. In addition, he was a current member of the Columbia Lodge #058 AF& AM, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Elks Lodge of Frederick, Redmens Chippewa Tribe of Frederick and the Evangelical Lutheran Church. Allen was also a past member and Past President of the Frederick County Plumbing Association, Maryland State Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors Association, North End Civic Association, Frederick City Plumbing Board, Frederick County Protective Fish & Game Association (Camp Kanawha) and the Independent Hose and United Fire Companies. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Specialist Thomas Allen Wachter, US Army, daughter Kirsten Lea Wachter of Wilmington, NC, cousin, Linda Sundergill and husband Jim of Frederick, in-laws, Ward and Patsy Zigler of Charles Town, WV, sister-in-law, Susan Snyder and husband John of Middletown, MD, brother-in-law, Richard Zigler and wife Susan of Charles Town, WV, sister-in-law, Jean Zigler and spouse Bobby Kotch of Pompano Beach, FL. Allen enjoyed the relationships formed while his son played baseball in school and through the American Legion, his daughter's soccer club, through his business, the fire companies, the neighborhood, his family, and his life-long friends, which have continued over the years . The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 pm, on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at the Keeney & Basford Funeral Home, 106 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. A Masonic service will begin at 6:00 PM. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, on Monday, March 4, 2013, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, 31 E. Church Street, Frederick, MD 21701. Inurnment will be private. The family will receive friends following the memorial service in Trunk Hall of the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be shared to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O.
