Mrs. Bettie Lee Oden Knill, 84, of Walkersville, died on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Tranquility of Fredericktowne. She was the wife of the late Allen O. Knill, who died August 16, 1979. Born June 23, 1928, in Frederick, she was a daughter of the late Edward P. and Edna Louise Tinney Oden. Mrs. Knill was a 1945 graduate of Frederick High School and received her nursing degree from the Frederick Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. She was a member of Saint Timothy's Catholic Church, Walkersville, and was a volunteer with Frederick Memorial Hospital. She was also a life member of the Walkersville Volunteer Rescue Company and was a trained EMT for many years. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a nurse with the infirmary of the Maryland School for the Deaf. She is survived by two daughters, Lisa A. Bona and husband, Robert, of Baltimore; Julie K. Hildebrand and husband Marlin, of Woodsboro; two sons, Peter A. Knill of Thurmont and Jeffrey A. Knill and wife Susan, of Greenville, MI; seven grandchildren, Christopher and Michael Tucker, Chris and Jacob Knill, Jessica and Allen Hildebrand, and Stephanie Kowal; eight great-grandchildren; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Emory Staley. The family will receive friends at the Keeney and Basford P.A. Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick on Thursday, March 14th from 3pm until time of funeral services at 4:00pm, with her pastor, Monsignor Richard J. Murphy, officiating.
