Page Cressman Holm Helenek

June 5, 1932 — March 23, 2013

Page Cressman Helenek, 80, died March 23, 2013 at the Kline Hospice House in Mount Airy, Maryland. Born on June 5, 1932 in Trenton, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Charles Cressman and Zena Dare Richards, and wife of the late John P. Helenek. Mrs. Helenek grew up in New Hope, Pennsylvania, was graduated from the University of Maryland, and taught English and history at Takoma Park Junior High School before raising a family. She later sold real estate for Kettler Brothers in Montgomery Village, Maryland. She loved hosting parties and family gatherings, attending swim meets, vacationing at the beach, and sailing the Chesapeake Bay. She traveled the globe several times, and was instrumental in setting up the first round-the-world alumni trips for the University of Maryland. She enjoyed theater, reading, opera, board games and cards, outdoor concerts, dancing to Motown and the standards, and going to the movies. She also adored animals, and spent several years rescuing and fostering wild cats. She shared her exuberance for life and for learning, her kind heart and ready smile with all. She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Holm of Frederick, Md; her step-children Jack Helenek and his wife Susie of Montgomery Village, Maryland, Jim Helenek and friend Sandra Merritt of Jacksonville, Florida, and Suzanne Helenek of Oviedo, Florida; grandchildren Barry Bellmore, Jackie Connor, Johnny Helenek, and Katie Helenek; her sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Dick Towle of Doylestown, PA; cousins Barker and Nancy Hamill of Yardley, PA, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also remembered by good friend Ann Kier of Annapolis, MD. A private memorial service will be held. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Frederick County, to Daybreak Adult Daycare Facility, to The Washington Animal Rescue League, or to the Alzheimer's Association.
