Mr. Eugene G. Lively, 57, of Frederick, died on Thursday, May 2, 2013 in Costa Rica, where he was vacationing with his wife, celebrating their 34th wedding anniversary. He was the husband of Maria I. Lanio Lively. Born October 2, 1955, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Edwin G. and Mary T. O'Flaherty Lively. Mr. Lively received his bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland and for the past 25 years has worked for Radio Shack and was most recently manager of the Mount Airy store. Gene also enjoyed antiques and maintained an antique mall shop, which was Lively Treasures. He was an active member of Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Frederick, where he served as Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Saint John's Jubilee Committee, and recently chaired the Jubilee Golf Tournament. He and Maria loved to travel and he was an avid golfer. Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Paul Eugene Lively, and friend Sarah Hammond, of Frederick; one grandson, Paul Eugene Lively, of Frederick; two brothers, David Lively and wife, Mary Ann, of Frederick and Christopher Lively and wife Cindy, of Mount Airy; nieces and nephews, Robert Lively, Katelyn Lively, Rebecca Lively, Luke Lively, Katherine Lively, Carmen DeVries, Elyse Bogard, and Vanessa Lanio. There is no visitation at the funeral home. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10am on Saturday, May 11 from Saint John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 118 East Second Street, Frederick, with Father Stephen D. Gosnell, as celebrant. A reception will be held in the Parish Center , 114 East Second St, immediately following the mass. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.
