Mr. James Walling "Dink" Harrison, 84, of Frederick, died on Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the Monteuve Home, Frederick. Born in Frederick on July 6, 1928 he was a son of the late Robert Reed Harrison and Clara Wilt Harrison. Dink was a graduate of Frederick High School Class of 1945 and was active with class reunions. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army. He also lead an active life having worked for the City of Frederick, MJ Grove Company, Jenkins Cannery, McCain Orchards and was retired from NIH in Bethesda. He was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church and a life member of the Francis Scott Key American Legion Post # 11, where he severed for many years as the chaplain. He was also a member of the Korean War Veterans Chapter # 142, Frederick. . Dink will always be remembered as the goodwill ambassador of downtown Frederick and was a frequent visitor of the Select Seconds Shop of East Patrick Street. He also enjoyed spending time at the Frederick City Pool. He is survived by several nieces and nephews, including, Philip Wachter, David Wachter and Victoria Seward, and several great nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by many friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Medora Harrison Wachter and her husband, Ralph and one brother, Robert R. Harrison. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 16, 2013, in the chapel of the Citizens Nursing Home, 1920 Rosemont Ave., Frederick. Interment will be private in the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick. Arrangements are with the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick.
